I consider myself very fortunate growing up the son of one of the best anglers I have ever fished with. My father Howard, a very passionate angler, started me carp fishing when I was about eight years old in 1970. He taught me a great deal about carp angling and the bond that fishing creates between a father and a son.
About two years ago I found the American Carp Society, the Carp Anglers Group, and Fishguys.org. I have a tremendous thirst for knowledge, and after finding these groups my last two years has been a journey in learning and understanding different styles of carp angling. While I have successfully fished for carp a long time, I feel that the more knowledge you have the better angler you will be. I would say my style is a combination of European, American, and Paylaker. I found that all of these styles have excellent merit and the combination of these styles has increased my catch rate tremendously. These groups have also led me to friendships with people who share a common interest and passion for carp angling. Carp angling has allowed me to meet people from all over the world and learn about their styles of angling and the cultures of their countries. Something that I never thought my hobby and passion would bring.
I have three goals for my participation in the American Carp League. First and foremost is to support the American Carp Society for all they are doing for carp angling in the United States. Second would be to enjoy myself and spend time with friends. Third would be to encourage others to take up carp angling as a result of the efforts I put forth in the American Carp League. |
